WHITEFISH - At the Wood Bat tournament last weekend in Whitefish, the Mission Valley Rockies dropped four games.

The senior Babe Ruth team played each game against an American Legion team.

"We didn't do as well as we hoped," head coach Alan Anderson said.

The Rockies' closest game came against Libby, a 6-5 loss even with four starters absent from the Rockies line-up due to graduation and track meets.

Libby started the second inning up 3-0 before Mission Valley "really got things going," Anderson said.

The Rockies pulled within four going and had the bases loaded when Devin Kamarainen ripped a double, scoring three. He made it to third, but couldn't cross the plate to tie the game.

"We played well," Anderson said. "Everybody had at least one hit."

Kamarainen ended the game 2-for-3 with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Jeremiah Crawford went 2-for-4 with two runs and a double. Garrett Herron went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Next up, the Rockies face their biggest rival, the Missoula Pioneers, at 6 p.m. on June 2 in St. Ignatius.

"This is a team to beat if we want to make state," Anderson said. "We hope to compete with them."
