New England quarterback Tom Brady showed he can sling it like the ol' gunslinger, connecting with Brandon Tate for a 65-yard touchdown on a broken play to give the Patriots (6-1) a 28-18 victory over the Minnesota Vikings (2-5) on Sunday in Foxborough, Mass., knocking Brett Favre out of the game in the process.

Favre left in the fourth quarter with a laceration on his face after being slammed to the turf; backup Tarvaris Jackson threw for a touchdown on his first play and a 2-point conversion on his second, but he didn't get the ball back until the 2 minute warning had sounded and the Vikings trailed by 10.

49ers 24, Broncos 16: At Wembley, England, backup Troy Smith found his range in the fourth quarter to lead San Francisco (2-6) over Denver (2-6) in the NFL's fourth regular-season game in London.

In his first start as a 49er, Smith had a 28-yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree with 7:23 left to help San Francisco take a 17-10 lead. Frank Gore scored another with 3:47 to go, running in from the 3.

Packers 9, Jets 0: At East Rutherford, N.J., Mason Crosby kicked three field goals for Green Bay (5-3), and that was all the Packers needed as they held rested but sloppy New York (5-2) off the scoreboard.

Rams 20, Panthers 10: Sam Bradford threw two touchdown passes and host St. Louis (4-4) beat hapless Carolina (1-6).

Dolphins 22, Bengals 14: Dan Carpenter kicked five field goals for the second straight game, and visiting Miami (4-3) made them stand up in keeping its record perfect on the road in beating Cincinnati (2-5).

Jaguars 35, Cowboys 17: At Arlington, Texas, David Garrard tied a club record with four touchdown passes and ran for another while narrowly missing a perfect quarterback rating, leading Jacksonville (4-4) past Dallas (1-6).

Tony Romo could only watch from the sideline, his left arm in a sling because of a broken collarbone, as the Cowboys continued their worst start since 1989.

Chiefs 13, Bills 10 (OT): Ryan Succop kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired in overtime to lift host Kansas City (5-2) over winless Buffalo (0-7).

Lions 37, Redskins 25: Matthew Stafford threw four touchdown passes, including a 10-yarder to Calvin Johnson with 3:12 left, and host Detroit (2-5) went on to score nine points in a 14-second span for its second win of the season, beating Washington (4-4).

Chargers 33, Titans 25: Philip Rivers threw a go-ahead, 48-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates midway through the third quarter and host San Diego (3-5) rallied past Tennessee (5-3), which lost quarterback Vince Young to another injury.

Buccaneers 38, Cardinals 35: At Glendale, Ariz., Aqib Talib intercepted two passes, returning one 45 yards for a touchdown and saving the game with the other, and Tampa Bay (5-2) rallied from a fourth-quarter deficit for the fourth time this season to beat Arizona (3-4).

Saints 20, Steelers 10: Drew Brees passed for 305 yards and two touchdowns and host New Orleans (5-3) defeated Pittsburgh (5-2).
