MATTAWA - A man was shot and killed in Mattawa Sunday night.

Investigators are working to identify the victim, described as being Hispanic and in his 20s.

Neighbors reportedly heard several gunshots outside a Riverview Trailer Park unit, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.

Mattawa police and the sheriff's office are investigating the incident as a homicide.

"The male victim was outside of the unit. No one at the scene was able to provide any additional information," said Undersheriff John Turley.

The victim was reportedly living with two other male roommates in the unit who said he was not a gang member and not a drug dealer, according to Turley.

Responding officers did not find any official documentation on the victim at the scene and little identification information was found inside the residence, according to the sheriff's office.

His roommates reportedly had little information about the victim's identity or who shot him because he had recently moved into the unit, stated Turley.

The victim's body has been sent to the Grant County Coroner's Office to be examined, according to the sheriff's office.

People with information about the victim or the shooting are asked to call the sheriff's office at 509-754-2011.
