CLARK FORK — Junior setter Celeste Komanec was named co-Most Valuable Player on the All-North Star League volleyball team, as voted on recently by the league’s coaches.
Komanec joined junior middle blocker Brocklynn Thornton and sophomore outside hitter Mariah Miller on the team, giving the Wampus Cats plenty of representation.
“All great personalities, which made it fun for me,” said head coach Michelle Adams of the trio of underclassmen players. “I’m looking forward to next year.”
All three return next season for a young and improving program which figures to be one of the top 1A Division II teams in the state next season.
Komanec and Miller were also each named to the honorable mention team of the 1A Division II state volleyball team, as voted on by the eight coaches at the state tournament.
Head coach Michelle Adams on what each player did to earn a spot on the team:
- Celeste Komanec — “Definitely our team leader, would always give it her all in practices and games. Technique-wise, she was the best setter in the league.”
- Mariah Miller — “Had a great attitude all season, put a lot of effort on the court. She was our best hitter.”
- Brocklynn Thornton — “One of the players that would stick out when we were in a close game. Mentally strong, always did what we needed.”
