brilliance that should carry them far this season.

PABLO - Poor shooting hampered the SKC Lady Bison in their home opener against the Montana-Western JV squad, but showed signs of brilliance that should carry them far this season.

"We'll learn from the mistakes that we've done so we don't do them again," head coach Juan Perez said.In their first home game of the sea-son last Friday, the Lady Bison shot three of 22 from the field in the first half as Montana-Western jumped out to a 28-11 lead at the half. The Lady Dawgs would end up win-ning the game 64-34.

Polson's Charlo Brown had 11 points in the matchup to lead Lady Bi-son scorers. Perez said he would like to see more aggressiveness from his team.

"We need to pick it up defensively when it's not working offensively," he said. "We have to work more on our transition defense."

In their second game against Montana-Western on Saturday, the Lady Bison put out a better offensive showing but still fell 68-47.

"Defensively, Western overpowered our wings," Perez said. "Our wings need to see that and go backdoor a little bit more."

Guard Leandra Thomas was spec-tacular for the Lady Bison in that game, scoring 24 points, Brown was second on the team in scoring with eight.

"She definitely had a heck of a game," Perez said.

Perez also pointed out the defense Genevieve Cochran as a positive.

"She did a good job of harassing players when she was on the defen-sive," he said.

Kyani Murphy also played for SKC despite being on the team for just a week. One thing is for sure, the Lady Bison are getting plenty of reps for Perez to get a look at his team and prepare his lineup for the AIHEC championships at the end of the season.

"The important thing is that I'm looking for who is going to step up in a game," he said.

A GLANCE AT THE LADY BISON

Poor shooting nights will happen, but there's a lot of positive things about this Lady Bison team. Priscilla Raven was a strong presence for SKC in the middle and will be key to the team's success with her rebounding and scoring skills.

Perez said that they're working with her to refine her game by the AIHEC Championships.

"By the time that comes around she's going to be dominating," Perez said.

The Lady Bison should get a lot of good play from their guards as well. Charlo Brown can drive to the basket with the best of them. Leandra Thomas also looked like a scoring machine in SKC's second game against Montana-Western.

When she gets her shooting stroke down, she's down-right impossible to stop. Once their tempo is established, they should be able to go far.
