MOYIE SPRINGS — Approximately 200 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled after a tractor-trailer overturned on U.S. Highway 95 on Wednesday.

Idaho State Police said the rig’s driver, Michael R. Wieler, was cited for failing to operate a commercial vehicle safely in hazardous conditions.

The 4:14 p.m. crash blocked the road for about two hours. The crash occurred about five miles south of the border.

State police said Wieler was driving too fast for the road conditions when he lost control of the northbound semi, which was hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with plywood. The tractor-trailer overturned and came to rest on its top and the vehicle’s fuel tanks were ruptured. Wieler, a 47-year-old from Arlee, Mont., was not injured in the crash, ISP said.
