John Mallinger won the Pebble Beach Invitational on Sunday, birdieing four of the last six holes for a 4-under 68 and a two-stroke victory over Jason Gore.

Mallinger made a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to finish at 15-under 273 in the event featuring 76 male and female players. He earned $60,000 in the $300,000 tournament sponsored by Callaway Golf.

Annika Sorenstam, completing her first 72-hole tournament since her LPGA Tour retirement in 2008, shot a 73 to finish at 3 under.

Football

Boise State has pushed closer to TCU in the latest BCS standings (see graphic, B4) and seems primed to pass the Horned Frogs with one more big victory.

Oregon and Auburn were still at the top of the standings and the AP poll. Both were off last week, along with third-place TCU.

Boise State routed Fresno State 51-0 on Friday night.

• Eastern Washington has received a first round bye in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

The fifth-seeded Eagles (9-2) learned they will host Southeast Missouri State (9-2) in the second round on Dec. 4 on the red turf at Roos Field in Cheney.

If the Eagles win, they may end up playing at fourth-seeded Montana State, which received a first-round bye.

Montana (7-4) did not receive an at-large bid.

Vanderbilt 72, North Carolina 65: At San Juan, Puerto Rico, John Jenkins scored 16 points to lead the Commodores (3-1) past reeling North Carolina (2-2).

No. 14 Purdue 82, Oakland 67: At West Lafayette, Ind., JaJuan Johnson had 25 points to help Purdue (3-0) over the Golden Grizzlies (1-2).

No. 9 Florida 61, Morehead State 55: At Gainesville, Fla., Erving Walker scored 16 points and the Gators (3-1) survived a scare from Morehead State (2-2).

No. 10 Syracuse 63, William & Mary 60: At Syracuse, N.Y., Kris Joseph had 18 points to lead the Orange (4-0) over William & Mary (0-3).

No. 19 Memphis 70, LSU 61: At Tupelo, Miss., Wesley Witherspoon scored 20 points to lead the Tigers (4-0) over LSU (2-2).

No. 20 Georgetown 82, North Carolina State 67: At Charleston, S.C., Hollis Thompson scored 18 points and Georgetown (5-0) beat North Carolina State (2-1).

No. 22 Virginia Tech 92, UNC Greensboro 70: At Greensboro, N.C., Malcolm Delaney scored 23 points and the Hokies (2-1) easily beat UNC Greensboro (0-3).

Raptors 102, Celtics 101: Andrea Bargnani scored 29 points and host Toronto beat Boston.

Hornets 75, Kings 71: David West had 17 points to help visiting New Orleans past San Antonio.

Pistons 115, Wizards 110, OT: At Auburn Hills, Mich., Richard Hamilton scored 12 of his 27 points in overtime in Detroit's win over Washington.

Lakers 117, Warriors 89: Pau Gasol scored 28 points and host Los Angeles Lakers beat Golden State.

Thrashers 2, Islanders 1, OT: Dustin Byfuglien scored at 1:30 of overtime to push host Atlanta past New York.

Red Wings 5, Flames 4, OT: Nicklas Lidstrom scored at 1:38 of overtime to lift host Detroit over Calgary.

Oilers 4, Ducks 2: At Anaheim, Calif., Ales Hemsky scored in the third in Edmonton's win over Anaheim.

Coyotes 3, Canucks 2: Taylor Pyatt scored twice and visiting Phoenix beat Vancouver.

Soccer

FC Dallas defender George John deflected a shot into his own net in overtime and the Colorado Rapids beat FC Dallas 2-1 in Toronto to win their first MLS Cup.

Tennis

Roger Federer beat David Ferrer 6-1, 6-4 to win his opening match at the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London.

Federer, a four-time champion at the tournament for the world's top eight players, stretched his record to 11-0 against the seventh-ranked Spaniard.

Fifth-ranked Andy Murray defeated Robin Soderling 6-2, 6-4.
