John Mallinger won the Pebble Beach Invitational on Sunday, birdieing four of the last six holes for a 4-under 68 and a two-stroke victory over Jason Gore.

Mallinger made a 25-foot birdie putt on No. 18 to finish at 15-under 273 in the event featuring 76 male and female players. He earned $60,000 in the $300,000 tournament sponsored by Callaway Golf.

Annika Sorenstam, completing her first 72-hole tournament since her LPGA Tour retirement in 2008, shot a 73 to finish at 3 under.

Football

Boise State has pushed closer to TCU in the latest BCS standings (see graphic, B4) and seems primed to pass the Horned Frogs with one more big victory.

Oregon and Auburn were still at the top of the standings and the AP poll. Both were off last week, along with third-place TCU.

Boise State routed Fresno State 51-0 on Friday night.

• Eastern Washington has received a first round bye in the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

The fifth-seeded Eagles (9-2) learned they will host Southeast Missouri State (9-2) in the second round on Dec. 4 on the red turf at Roos Field in Cheney.

If the Eagles win, they may end up playing at fourth-seeded Montana State, which received a first-round bye.

Montana (7-4) did not receive an at-large bid.

Federer, a four-time champion at the tournament for the world's top eight players, stretched his record to 11-0 against the seventh-ranked Spaniard.

Fifth-ranked Andy Murray defeated Robin Soderling 6-2, 6-4.
