Local girls and boys ages 8-13 are invited to register for the annual BPOE Hoop Shoot on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Libby Middle School gym.

Registration will run from 2-2:30 p.m. Age categories are based on the shooter’s birthday as of April 1, 2011. To participate, contestants must bring a birth certificate, passport or a baptismal certificate to verify age at registration.

The shoot is divided into three classes for boys and girls. The 8-9-year-olds shoot from 11 feet, and all other divisions shoot from the regulation free-throw stripe. All girls’ divisions and the boys’ 8-9-year-old division use the 28.5 ball. Boys 10-13 use a regulation high school ball.

Each contestant shoots 25 free throws. In cases of ties, a shoot-off will determine the winner.

Winners in each division advance to the district contest in Pablo on Dec. 18.
