POST FALLS - The Post Falls City Council tonight is expected to pass a resolution declaring the Idaho Veneer property and immediate surrounding area as "deteriorated," the first step in creating a urban renewal district.
In most urban renewal districts, a proponent or developer, in this case the Malloy family that owns Idaho Veneer, will use its own funds to install public infrastructure in areas that have been "deteriorated."
In other business, the council will appoint Danette Zibell-Wolfe to the Parks and Recreation Commission, replacing Dora Griffith, who has moved. The three-year term ends December 2012.
The council is also expected to approve a bid from Northwest Plant Health Care for $58,975 for citywide street tree pruning and removal services.
The meeting starts at 6 at 408 N. Spokane St.
