RONAN - Instead of sitting around during their bye week, Ronan head coach Jim Benn had his team (4-2) play the Flathead JV last week in order to prepare for this Friday's matchup against the Libby Loggers.

"We played against a team that was a similar style to Libby," Benn said. "They had watched film on us or got a darn good scouting report from someone."

The Chiefs won 52-29, against a team comprised mostly of juniors from class AA Flathead and also employed a spread offense like Libby.

"They couldn't have helped us more," Benn said.

Another talented player for the Chiefs, sophomore running back Jalen Bell, will be eligible to play against Libby and will be a welcomed addition.

"He's the fastest kid on our whole team," Benn said.

That will also bolster a defensive backfield that, after starting the season thin, has received reinforcements from players getting healthy.

"I'm not warming up with two kids anymore," Benn said.

Ronan will play Libby at 7 p.m. this Friday on the road.
