George T. Mather, 89

George T. Mather, 89, passed away Oct. 12, 2010. He was born March 1, 1921, in Brockton, Mass., to Thomas and Mary (Homus) Mather.

He retired as a meat cutter and moved from California to Coeur d'Alene in 1982 where he managed apartment buildings and mowed lawns for the city of Coeur d'Alene. George fought in WWII and the Korean War. He loved to cook and was great at it. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Coeur d'Alene.

George is survived by his son, Paul Mather; daughter Fran Awbery; daughter-in-law Judy Mather; grandchildren, Trayce Boniecki, Kenny Helm and Joe Mather; sister Jeannette Axsom and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret (Asiaf) Mather; parents; brothers, Mitchell, Phillip and Fred and sister Bernice.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d'Alene, is in care of the arrangements.
