Bonners Ferry man cited for DUI after leaving scene of crash

Tim R. Jantz, 46, Bonners Ferry, was cited for DUI after smashing broadside into a tractor trailer on U.S. 95 at the turnout to the weigh station just north of Three Mile at about 8:30 p.m. October 6, then fleeing the scene.
According to the Idaho State Police, owner/operator Gary W. Faulk, 49, Houston, Texas, was southbound on U.S. 95 in a 2003 International tractor trailer when he attempted to turn into the port of entry as required.
As he attempted to turn left across the highway, another semi was parked too close to the end of the driveway to allow him to complete the turn, so he backed into the highway to gain the clearance needed and was pulling forward again when Jantz, driving a 2007 Dodge Ram pickup north without lights on, ran directly into the side of the semi.
Jantz turned himself in at about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 7, when he was cited for driving while intoxicated.
Faulk was taken by ambulance to Boundary Community Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision.
