MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake Ramada Inn owners Pat and Judy Molitor recently bought South Campus Athletic Club.

Their son, Chris Molitor, said he is involved extensively with the transition and is ensuring the equipment is working and areas of the building are repaired.

"The big thing is, we're going to go in and make a lot of necessary repairs to the building, equipment and try to make this a top-notch athletic club again," Chris said.

He said the club is staying open and not closing, even during the repairs and improvements.

Only sections of the club will be closed, and won't prevent customers from exercising or taking classes.

"Before we bought this, there were risks this would be shut down," Chris explained "We are not shutting down."

The main change so far is the repair of the roof over the locker room.

"That was a longtime problem with this building," he said.

There's also plans to inspect the HVAC and electrical systems, as well as adding new paint and carpet.

Chris emphasized the facility will stay an athletic club.

Free child care remains available with memberships, as well as free classes. Child care was expanded to include Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

Free weights, cardio machines, sauna, hot tub, showers, tanning beds and a zone fitness center are also offered.

A grand opening is planned for the future.

The club's manager remains Ray Hamilton, who had managed the facility under the previous ownership.

The club is accepting new members and is located on 1475 Nelson East Rd., Moses Lake.
