EPHRATA — Prosecutors charged a 38-year-old Soap Lake woman with vehicular homicide for an August collision where her mother died.

Shilo A. Potter was charged this month for the crime in Grant County Superior Court.

Potter was driving westbound on Interstate 90 when she reportedly jerked the wheel, leaving the road, and rolled the vehicle twice. Her mother, Linda McMillan, was riding in the vehicle and died at the scene, according to a Washington State Patrol report.

Potter reportedly told police she thought a dog ran out into the road, her mother called her name to warn her and she jerked the steering wheel, sending the vehicle off the road, according to the police report.

The woman allegedly suffers from AIDS, Hepatitis C and a low oxygen saturation level syndrome. When police asked about what types of medications she took, she reportedly couldn’t remember them all.

Blood analysis reportedly showed methadone, amphetamine, oxycodone, morphine and trazadone in Potter’s blood, according to the police report.
