Bonners Ferry High School’s Homecoming ended in success with the football team beating the Libby Loggers 16 to 9.

A great effort by the entire team with the defense playing very well is what led to the win, according to coach Ed DePriest.  Including pressure on the Libby team by junior Adam Lund, sophomore Carman Krichbaum, junior Reed Bennett and senior Chase Mellon and Taylor Tompke with an interception.

DePriest said the offensive line did a very good job moving the Libby defensive line led by  juniors Alex Awbrey and Jeff Garcia and seniors  David Willems and Austin Skeen.

“The offense controlled the ball and the clock, which kept the ball away from a very dangerous Libby offense,” DePriest said.

Senior Taylor Tompke and Ozzie Braff, a junior,  scored touchdowns and Braff and senior Mitch Manley each scored a two point conversion.

According to DePriest Chase Mellon made the play of the game when he ran down a Libby receiver who had broken away and saved a touchdown.

“This week is for the drivers seat against the always tough Timberlake team,” said DePriest.  “It will be at Timberlake and will take a near flawless effort, but the guys are up to it if they play as hard and stay disciplined as they did against Libby.”

The Badgers play at 7 p.m., Friday Oct. 22, in Timberlake.
