MOSES LAKE - Three matches left in Central Washington 1B league play for the Moses Lake Christian Academy Lady Lions and a potential date with a title.

But for now they will have to continue to take care of business like last night as they dispatched of Mansfield 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-22) to move to 8-1 in league play.

The Lady Lions (16-4) got strong hitting from Rachel Verhage (11 kills), Susan Timofeyev (10 kills), and Melissa Verhage (eight kills).

Kristina Firouzi led the Academy with 25 assists as teammate Madison Yamane blasted out five aces.

Despite the win, head coach Dean Spurbeck thinks his Lady Lions have plenty of work to do as the four-team district playoffs loom.

They start on Nov. 1 in Soap Lake.

"We need to see more consistency in that whoever we play we come out and have to play hard," Spurbeck said. "We need to be consistent with our serving but we have spread out our offense pretty well. We also need to serve more than three-in-a-row."

Only one team from the league qualifies for state.

On Tuesday the Lady Lions host Thorp in a game which will decide the regular season champion of the Central Washington 1B.
