Robert J. Saville, 89, of Yellow Bay, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 15, 2010, at his home after a very long battle with a serious lung disease. Bob was born on Dec. 13, 1920, in Ogden, Utah, a son of the late Leslie H. and Ione Wilcox Saville. He grew up and was educated in Salt Lake City. He later went on to join the National Guard in 1939 and then the U.S. Army in 1941. Bob served in the Asiatic Pacific during World War II until 1945. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Bob attended the University of Utah. After graduation, he joined Conoco where he worked in the Mountain West region, Texas and also overseas until his retirement in 1979. He and his family then moved to Yellow Bay, where Bob had resided since. Bob had a beautiful tenor voice and sang in musical productions and choral groups throughout his life and in his later years loved to sing traditional Christmas songs at the Yellow Bay Club. His greatest love was his family, his wonderful friends on the east shore and his beloved wife, Pat, who in August, celebrated with him their 62nd anniversary. Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Adele Isaacs, and his brother, Jack Saville. Those left with cherished memories are his wife, Pat; a son, Jack and his wife, Ananda; a daughter, Caroline Jane; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Howard and Rodney Dyer; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Demi, Isabelle and Hailie, and Makenna and Mason; a sister, Betty Jeanne Chipman; and many much-loved nieces and nephews. Bob s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Gail Stockman, the pulmonary staff of Rocky Mountain Heart and Lung, and Home Options of Kalispell Regional Medical Center, all of whom gave Bob such loving care until the end. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to either Home Options of Kalispell Regional Medical Center or to the Yellow Bay Community Club, both of which were very near to Bob s heart. Cremation has taken place and a luncheon will be held in Bob s memory at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Yellow Bay Club. A memorial service will also be held at a later date in Salt Lake City. Messages of condolence may be expressed to the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com. The staff of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson, considers it a privilege to care for Mr. Saville s family.
