On November 2nd, the citizens of Mineral County face the significant choice of selecting a county attorney.  The position demands experience, honesty, integrity and most importantly the intestinal fortitude to do what is right for the citizens of Mineral County.

The person best suited for this position is Shaun Donovan.  He has given this county over 30 years of professional service and is still doing an outstanding job.  Shaun is not only responsible for aggressive prosecution of criminal activity in our county, but also provides a vital resource to county government, local boards and community organizations.

I have served on the St. Regis Sewer Board and the St. Regis School Board.  Each and every time one of these boards needed his expertise and opinion, Shaun was there to provide valuable insight and perspective.  Shaun went out of his way to make sure we had the proper information to make an informed decision.

Our county has experienced significant change during Shaun’s tenure.  I have watched Shaun work with the Mineral County Commissioners on many hotly contested issues.  I have agreed with some positions and disagreed with others but no matter what side of the issue, I always left the meeting believing that Shaun advocated his position based on what the law stated and to the benefit of the people he served.

For thirty years I have watched Shaun prosecute cases in Mineral County.  Most have come and gone with little notice.  Some have come with great division and heartache for those affected.  I am not an expert in interpretation of the law, but from a lay perspective his prosecutions always appear to be based on what was demanded by the law.  These demands are continuously increasing as the volume of both civil and criminal cases rise in Mineral County.  We need proven experience to handle what lies ahead.  Shaun is a valuable resource.

Sadly, I have seen many in our county try to turn this race into a partisan affair.  Interpretation of the law is not partisan.  The law is the law whether you are a Democrat or Republican.  We have the advantage in this county of knowing our elected officials.  I am choosing Shaun Donovan based on his experience, knowledge, and straightforward interpretation of the law.  If we have to be partisan, consider me a Republican for Donovan!

Plowing Problems

For nearly forty years, I have resided in a home on the corner of Main and B streets in St. Regis.  Somehow when the snow comes the plows are quick to clear Main Street.

Shocked by disrespect

On Saturday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m., in the Mineral County Military Cemetery in Superior, Montana, I laid my father to rest. He was a WWII Veteran who was wounded on D-Day and also in the Battle of the Bulge. My father was later awarded the Bronze Star.
