MOSES LAKE - The solar system, witches, hand prints, aliens and spooky faces all decorate contest pumpkins at Michael's Market & Bistro on display until Saturday.

"We wanted to participate in something fun for the kids," says coordinator Kelly Thomas. "Sage Point is kind of new and we're kind of new."

Students from each class at Sage Point Elementary decorated a pumpkin in hopes of winning a free catered lunch by Michael's. Second and third place winners receive a dessert party from Michael's that will be delivered to the school.

Mrs. Sandhop's first-graders each made a worm for their pumpkin, which is painted like an oversized apple.

Mrs. Hansen's fourth-graders are studying the solar system and made their pumpkin the sun with numerous planets in orbit.

But now it's up to the community to decide the winner.

Visitors to Michael's can cast votes for best pumpkin from now until Saturday.

The pumpkins are on display inside Michael's and are labeled by teacher and grade.

Michael's Market & Bistro is located at 221 W. Broadway Ave. in Moses Lake.
