Residents interested in how much dough is allotted to Kootenai County services will want to attend the public hearing tonight that the county commissioners are holding on the proposed budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year.

There is no longer a proposed tax increase, after the commissioners recently retooled the budget.

The overall budget is set for $72,151,802, which is $1.59 million less than the current fiscal year.

Big changes proposed include boosting the sheriff's department funding to $19,601,729, an increase of $887,201. The county vessel budget will also bump up $160,406 to $678,470.

Folks can view the rest of the budget under Financial Reports on the county Web site, http://www.kcgov.us/.

The hearing will be at 6 p.m. in Room 1 of the Kootenai County Administration Building.
