It was a rough weekend for the Kats at the Whitefish Starter Tournament. The team went 0-8 in the 10-team tourney and finished at the bottom of Pool B.

"We didn't win a game, but I don't think that reflected how we played," said coach Addy Connelly. "We just needed to get our first game jitters out."

Polson and Stillwater Christian topped Pool B with twin scores of 6-2.

"We definitely need to work on our passing," Connelly said. "We have some young setters who are working really hard. There's always room for improvement."

Connelly said a stand-out during the tournament was Jessie Gist, a middle blocker.

"She played really well for us, really came alive."

Connelly invited Wildkat fans to pack the house during the Tip Off Tourney Sept. 10 and 11. Columbia Falls will host 12 teams, who play games at both the high school and Columbia Falls Junior High.

The Wildkats are away Friday, playing Ronan.
