Dale Willard Powell, 83

Dale Willard Powell passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Aug. 30, 2010, in Wilsonville, Ore. He was born April 9, 1927, in Laurel, to Roy and Grace Powell. Dale graduated from Flathead County High School in 1945. Upon graduation he served as a sergeant in the Occupation Army in Japan. He returned from the war and married his high school sweetheart, Ellen Jane Chapman, on June 11, 1947. Three children were born of the marriage " Victor Dale, Christine Ellen and Connie Rae. Dale worked for many years in the appliance and furniture business, including his own Powell s Furniture stores in Billings and Missoula. He retired in 1997 in Clarkston, Wash. Dale will be remembered with love for his service to others and his love of camping, fishing, gardening and family gatherings. He is survived by his wife, Jane, of Wilsonville; son, Victor, and wife, Bonnie, of Missoula; daughter, Christine and husband, Larry Porter, of Wilsonville; daughter, Connie and husband, Lee Cameron, of Arvada, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Cal and Annette Powell of Choteau, and Bob and Joyce Powell of Libby. Military interment services will be held Friday at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Meridian United Church of Christ in Wilsonville. Donations or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer s Association of Oregon.
