PHILIPSBURG - Arlee is off and running. Specifically, junior running back Zach Tameler is off and running as he had four rushing touchdowns in a 46-20 victory over Philipsburg last Friday.

"He was running well; he saw the cutback lanes that were opened up for him," Arlee head coach Scott Palmer said.

Palmer praised the line play on both sides of the ball.

"It opens up all your options so you don't have to focus on being one-dimensional," he said. "The defensive line helped control the line of scrimmage for us."

Tameler scored from nine, 36, 11 and 23 yards as the Warriors won an early Western C Conference matchup by a large margin. It was close in the first half as Arlee led 14-8, but they used a 24-point outburst in the fourth to seal things for good.

"We saw a lot of positive things," Palmer said. "For the first game we had to get the jitters out."

Arlee scored first, but Philipsburg answered back in the second quarter. When Tameler scored once again in the third, the Prospectors had an answer and only trailed 22-14.

That's when Arlee scored four unanswered touchdowns and a safety. Senior quarterback Dylan Moran scored on a three-yard run and then senior fullback Damon Cordier scored on a short run as well. The two would also combine on a sack for the safety.

Tameler scored two times again to round out all 46 points for the Warriors. Phillipsburg would score in the fourth, but it was too little, too late.

Stars on offense were Tamaler with 11 attempts for 105 yards, senior running back Cole Rice with 17 for 123 yards, Moran with 70 yards on nine touches and Cordier who had six carries for 25 yards.

Arlee will play defending Class C state champion Drummond at 7 p.m. next Friday on the road.
