STEVENSVILLE - Stevensville attacked through the air, racking up 312 yards and handed Ronan football their first loss of the season, 37-8. Stevensville used a 22-point third quarter after Ronan had played them closely, going into halftime trailing just 15-8.
"I think our defense played well for the most part until we started getting injured," Ronan head coach Jim Benn said.
Junior halfback Jack Humphreys had Ronan's only score of the game, a running touchdown in the first quarter. Ronan played with two running backs out, senior Lucus Black suffered a high ankle sprain and senior J.J. Tanner with a strained ligament. They'll be back on the field this week. Benn said the kids were disappointed with the loss and are refocusing their efforts.
"They understand what really matters, the conference games matter," he said.
Ronan faces Butte-Central at 7 p.m. on Friday at home.
