ÒAcross Turtle Island,Ó a radio show hosted by Flathead resident Jeny Running Brook Covill, has been nominated for Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Award in the category of Best Aboriginal Music Radio Station/Program.
ÒAcross Turtle IslandÓ features music by Native American artists as well as interviews with Native American singers, songwriters, producers and actors. The show can be heard Sundays at 10 a.m. and anytime on demand online at WhitefishRadio.com / BigValleyRadio.com.
Covill is of Cherokee and Powhatan descent. Although she was not raised within her Cherokee culture, Covill was enrolled with the Amonsoquath Tribe of Cherokee in 2001. She co-founded All Nations Fellowship, a native-style Christian church gathering, where she is a pastor.
She is also a volunteer chaplain at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish. She resides with her husband and two children.
The international awards show will be broadcast live from the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Friday, Nov. 5, on the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, CanadaÕs fourth largest National Broadcast Network.
