Prep Volleyball: Moses Lake Christian Academy 3, Easton 0
EASTON - A strong performance by freshman outside hitter Susan Timofeyev playing out of position helped the Moses Lake Christian Academy Lady Lions to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-14) win last night over hosts Easton.
Timofeyev moved over to middle block to take the place of the injured Rachel Verhage and stepped in with 16 kills to spark the Lady Lions (9-3, 2-0) offense.
"Susan took over in the middle and either one of them can go off any night," Lady Lions head coach Dean Spurbeck said. "We just happened to put Susan in there tonight and she was set a lot. We set the ball well and she can hit it when that happens. She's only a freshman but has been playing for awhile in club so she is still one of my more experienced players."
Melissa Verhage added eight kills and five aces while setter Kristina Firouzi took control of the team's offensive flow to finish with 35 assists.
"Kristina is a very good leader and runs the team very well," Spurbeck said. "It's still early and are still working on offense but, she definitely knows who to go to for getting the kills we need."
