Florence Crabtree, 90

Florence M. Crabtree, 90, of Coeur d'Alene, died Sept. 19, 2010, at home. She was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Bonner, Mont., to William and Ida (Lien) Henderson.

She graduated from Alberton High School in 1937. She worked at the Northern Pacific Hospital in Missoula, Mont., the Montana State Tuberculosis Hospital in Warm Springs, Mont., and the State Mental Hospital in Galen, Mont.

Florence was married to Ernest Crabtree on Nov. 3, 1941, in Dear Lodge, Mont., at St. John Lutheran Church. They moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1960 and she was accepted in the first LPN nursing program at North Idaho College. After graduation she worked at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene from 1968 until retiring in 1982.

Florence was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church and was an active member of the women's circle at the church. She was also an ordained Stephen Minister and active in the Stephen Ministries program with the elderly. Florence loved traveling and belonged to the Ramblers Club.

Florence is survived by one sister, Gladys Sommers of Missoula, and several nieces and nephews in Montana, Kentucky and Minnesota.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d'Alene, with Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene, in care of the arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Missoula.
