rediscover that winning touch.

Hosting Eisenhower, the Chiefs teetered back-and-forth with

their visitors in a tense five-game match before the Moses Lake

girls held on for a 3-2 win (25-18, 24-26,

25-18, 17-25, 15-12).

MOSES LAKE - In need of a win after two straight frustrating losses, the Moses Lake Chiefs volleyball team dug deep on Tuesday to rediscover that winning touch.

Hosting Eisenhower, the Chiefs teetered back-and-forth with their visitors in a tense five-game match before the Moses Lake girls held on for a 3-2 win (25-18, 24-26, 25-18, 17-25, 15-12).

Moses Lake (2-3, 2-2) needed the win after two losses that may not have best illustrated the squad's talent.

"It was pretty vital just to bounce back and forth and to come out and win," Moses Lake head coach Amy Utter said. "The score in the fifth game doesn't show how decisively we went out to win."

All seven players Utter used contributed greatly on the stat sheet.

Kayla Bernsen had 18 kills, nine blocks, and four aces; Markie Fancher ended up with 22 assists and nine digs; Kenzie Fancher completed her night with 18 assists and 11 digs; and Kaydren Dunkin totalled 17 kills and four blocks.

"It was really big for us and a confidence booster for all of us to let us know we can do it," Markie Fancher said. "Look how good we can play when we put our mind to it. It was really great. But even though we can come out with that win the fact is we need to keep playing hard because you never know what's going to be handed to you."

Mindy Robbins added 15 digs and three aces, Sadie Nielsen had 15 digs and eight kills, and Taylor Sonnenberg had 19 digs.

Overall the Chiefs ended up with 69 digs.

"We played pretty well defensively," Utter said. "We continue to work on being more consistent and work on trends on where they are going to read where the ball will be hit. Obviously we ended up digging up a lot of balls."

The hectic nature of the match, coupled with the team's comeback was another bright spot for the squad.

"I am proud of the way they regrouped," Utter said. "They did a great job of coming back, battling back and playing to win."
