POST FALLS - Germans, Italians and anyone who wants to join in on their traditions will have their weekend in Post Falls.

Oktoberfest, a fundraiser for the Post Falls museum, will be today from 4:30-8 p.m. at the heated and covered Lion's Pavilion at Q'emiln Park.

The sixth annual Italian Festival, a free event, will be on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Frederick Street across from City Hall.

Oktoberfest features a German dinner, including bratwurst or German sausage, red cabbage, baked sauerkraut with apples, spaetzle with Swiss cheese and carmelized onions, hot German potato salad, a drink and dessert.

Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors 55 and older and children younger than 10. Ticket outlets include the museum, Rosa's Italian Market, Panhandle State Bank, the city's recreation department and Relax n' Tan.

Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and children.

Other activities include a wiener dog costume contest at 6:30 p.m., an adult German costume contest at 7 p.m. and polka dance competition at 7:30 p.m.

SouthWest Volksband will provide German accordion music.

There will also be a beer and wine garden, door prizes and raffles.

The Italian Festival includes food and craft booths, live entertainment, spaghetti- and pizza-eating contests, cooking demonstrations, a beer and wine garden and family activities.

Saturday's activities include: marimba band, 11 a.m.; Post Falls High soloists, noon; St. Patrick's School of Dance, 1 p.m.; Majestic Mountain Chorus, 2 p.m.; cooking demo, 3 p.m.; spaghetti-eating contest, 4 p.m.; SouthWest Volksband, 5 p.m.; Italian music sing along, 6 p.m.; and Italian mob hits, 7 p.m.

Sunday's agenda includes: cooking demos, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; soloist Carol-Anne Werts, 12:30-1 p.m.; St. Patrick's Schools of Dance, 1 p.m.; SouthWest Volksband, 2 p.m.; pizza-eating contest, 3 p.m.; Italian music, 4 p.m.; and Italian mob hits, 5 p.m.

There will be free parking at City Hall.
