The Thompson Falls Lady Hawks had an up and down week, both winning and losing matches. First, defeating Troy on the road Tuesday, 3-2, and then losing to Mission in straight sets at home on Saturday to fall to 1-4 in conference, 1-5 overall.

Despite being down two, the Bluehawks rallied 14-25, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-8 for their first win of the season.

“That was a good comeback for the girls. They played well the whole game, they just got themselves in a rhythm the last three games and they came out ahead,” Lady Hawks head coach Sandra Kazmierczak said of her team’s win.

The loss pushed the defeated Trojans to 0-3 in conference, and 0-4 overall.

Standing out for the Lady Hawks were Allison Vaught, Makayla Becker, Emily Wadsworth, Hope Reid, and Kelsety Fitchett. Vaught contributed 19 assists and three aces, as Becker delivered eight kills. Wadsworth, and Reid led the defense with 15 digs, and four blocks respectively. Fitchett also had three aces.

“They found their rhythm, they were serving well, they were passing well,” Kazmierczak said of her team’s nearly flawless performance. “Both teams were playing pretty hard. So I’ll take it.”

Kimmy Klin had 12 digs and eight kills for Trojans, and Alyssa Olds added 19 assists to go with four aces.

A senior laden St. Ignatius team made quick work of the Lady Hawks in a 25-20, 25-14, 25-20 sweep.

The win bolstered Mission’s undefeated record to 4-0.

Despite the losing score Kazmierczak was impressed with her team’s resilience, and toughness.

“Each game, they’re improving and finding out what they can do,” Kazmierczak said. “Either win or lose right now, I’m happy with these girls. They’re playing with everything they have, and we’ll see how far we go.”

Becker had another impressive outing tallying nine kills and 20 digs to lead Thompson Falls. Erica Sorlie doled out ten assists, and Reid again had four blocks.

Adessa Durglo had 10 kills and four blocks, while Sierra Scott added nine kills for Mission.

Thompson Falls will play again on Thursday, hosting Loyola.
