MOSES LAKE - A key Central Washington B League contest turned out to be a one-sided affair last night.

The host Moses Lake Christian Academy Lady Lions started off fast and took advantage of a number of Wilson Creek Lady Devils miscues to cruise to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-11) win.

"I'm very proud of the way we played tonight," Lady Lions head coach Dean Spurbeck said. "I am starting to see them do the things we have been working on in practice like movement on defense, spreading the offence to all our hitters, running strong freeball plays, and communicating with each other."

The Lady Lions (9-3, 4-0) were dominant at the net and kept their passing errors to a minimum to keep the Lady Devils (3-3, 2-2) defense on its heels.

"They made less mistakes than we did and that's what it comes down to," Wilson Creek head coach Mike Ottis said. "They were able to pass the ball up to where its productive to them and we didn't. If you can't pass you're dead."

Leading the Academy attack was Rachel Verhage who had seven kills and five service aces and Melissa Verhage who finished with six kills and five aces.

Susan Timofeyev added six kills for the Lady Lions whose offense was directed to the tune of 25 assists by Kristina Firouzi.

"Kristina set a great game moving the ball around and is being a great leader," Spurbeck said. "Melissa hit well and started to mix up some of her hits. Rachel had another great game and lead the team once again in hitting. We served very well also as a team."

Holly Wilson led the Lady Devils with five kills.

"It's about consistency and that's what you deal with in volleyball anyway," Ottis said. "The talent is there it's just a matter of us coming out and realizing our skill set."
