Walla Walla 3, MOSES LAKE 1

WALLA WALLA - A strong start did not lead to an even better finish last night for the Moses Lake Chiefs volleyball team in Big 9 play.

Despite taking game one 25-20 at Walla Walla the Chiefs (2-4, 2-3) couldn't keep the pace up and fell to their hosts 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17).

Kayla Bernsen led the Chiefs with 19 kills and three solo blocks while Kaydren Dunkin added nine kills and five solo blocks.

Setters Markie Fancher (21 assists) and Kenzie Fancher (13 assists) ran the offense while Taylor Sonnenberg led the Moses Lake defense with 23 digs.

"We won the first game and then kind of flat lined over the next three games," Moses Lake head coach Amy Utter said. "We were not able to utilize our hitters over those three games and couldn't stop the runs."
