The Troy High School football and volleyball teams will celebrate homecoming on Friday and Saturday.

The Trojans take to the gridiron at 7 p.m. Friday for a showdown against Plains.

“They stuck it to us pretty good last year,” Troy coach Rich McElmurry said. “They still have some good skill kids coming back and hopefully we can contain them and get after them a little bit.”

The Plains attack features a quick quarterback, tough-nosed 200-pound fullback and a 6-foot-3 receiver. Plains sports on 0-3 record with losses to Cutbank, Superior and Bigfork.

For the Trojans, Trevor Cratty suffered a tricep injury during practice prior to the Eureka game. Creede Garcia stepped into Cratty’s defensive back position against the Lions. Cratty’s status is questionable for the Plains game.

The Lady Trojans will play at home on Saturday against Valley Christian. The action begins at 3 p.m., with non-varsity teams. The varsity should be taking the floor at around 5:30 to 6 p.m.

In other sports this week, Libby’s boys and girls soccer teams will see action on the home field Saturday against rival Whitefish. The girls play at 11 a.m., followed by the boys at 1 p.m. The boys have struggled over the last two games with no goals in 160 minutes of play. The girls have won two straight.

The Logger football team hits the road for the third straight week at Columbia Falls. Libby takes an overall record of 2-2 into the conference opener.

The boys golf squad takes to the links on Friday and Saturday at divisionals in Ronan. Top teams and individuals will advance to next week’s state golf meet at Laurel.

The Logger volleyball team plays host to Columbia Falls on Saturday beginning at 4:15 p.m., with non-varsity matchups. The varsity should be starting at around 6:30 or 7 p.m.

The cross country team will run on Saturday at the Ronan Invitational.
