SELAH - They may have started the season 0-4, but there is no

question that the Ephrata Tigers football team has improved over

the course of the first month of the season.

On Friday, the Tigers fell 30-6 to a strong Selah team, but not

before battling to a narrow 14-0 deficit at halftime in the Central

Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) clash.

SELAH - They may have started the season 0-4, but there is no question that the Ephrata Tigers football team has improved over the course of the first month of the season.

On Friday, the Tigers fell 30-6 to a strong Selah team, but not before battling to a narrow 14-0 deficit at halftime in the Central Washington Athletic Conference (CWAC) clash.

"We did play well on the road and I am pleased with our determination to play hard the entire game," Ephrata head coach Jay Mills said. "We were in the game through three quarters. We are progressing each week and I hope the our first win is our next game."

Ephrata (0-4, 0-3) trailed 24-0 going into the fourth quarter against Selah (3-1, 2-1) but then Tigers' quarterback Bryce Beavers hit Jacob Crowder on a seven-yard scoring strike to get Ephrata on the board.

"Offensively we still need to commit fewer turnovers and we need to start faster," Mills said. "We have had too many three and outs in the first half. Points early will help our confidence as an offensive unit."

Alex Harvill led the Ephrata rushing game with 67 yards on eight carries while Beavers finished 8-for-16 with 54 yards passing and two interceptions.

Colton Bennett and Crowder both caught three passes to end up Beavers' favorite targets on the night.

"We played the best defense we have played all year and now we need to sustain drives on offense and start faster," Mills said. "I am most pleased with the teams attitude to continued improvement. We are focusing on the process not the results. The team continues to work each week in practice and improve."
