Betty Jane (Walker) Stevens, 82, died Dec. 9, 2009, at the Lakeview Care Center. She was born May 17, 1923, in Kalispell and raised in Lakeside. On July 5, 1949, she married Neil Stevens. Betty taught school in Lakeside for 18 years. She was also the secretary treasurer for the Lakeside QRU and Blacktail TV. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Neil Stevens, in 2002. Betty is survived by her daughters, Penny Stevens of Shelby, and Pam McCarthy of Lakeside; brother, Robert Walker, of Somers; and her grandchild, Ryan McCarthy, of Denver, N.C. A memorial service for Betty will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Lakeside Community Chapel. A reception will follow immediately afterward. Memorials are suggested to the Lakeside QRU.
