School girls soccer team did just that Tuesday night.

The Chiefs, spurred on by a first half Walla Walla own goal,

carried that momentum on to a 2-0 Big 9 league win.

MOSES LAKE - It was time to bounce back and the Moses Lake High School girls soccer team did just that Tuesday night.

The Chiefs, spurred on by a first half Walla Walla own goal, carried that momentum on to a 2-0 Big 9 league win.

A second half Kimmi Bakker goal for the Chiefs on a penalty kick rounded out the Moses Lake (5-3-1, 3-2) scoring.

The win follows a tough 6-0 loss at Richland on Saturday.

"I told them to throw that game away," Moses Lake head coach Ric Char said."We made a goal for ourselves to bounce back because we have started off slow. So I changed our formation to get more offense and so it made us more aggressive."

It was aggressive enough to a tune of 24 shots taken to only eight for Walla Walla.

However, not scoring a goal in the run of play, is not being taken lightly.

"We are focusing on finishing in the offensive third this week," Char said. "That has been a problem and I don't know why. Kimmi scored 13 goals last year and is yet to score this year in play. We meed to work on it more."

Bakker's penalty kick came when Celina Hernandez was pulled down in the six-yard box by a Walla Walla defender to set up the spot kick.

Moses Lake attacked from the wings on numerous occasion and showed a higher level of proficiency at quick movement of the ball than their visitors.

"We dominated possession so its not for a lack of trying that we aren't scoring," Char said. "We were hoping to spread them out rather than pack the middle to create more gaps and more holes. We've been working on maintaining possession and they are absolutely improving on that."
