Girls defeat St. Maries 2-1

Hustle and perserverance by the Bonenrs Ferry High School Lady Badgers soccer team overcame an early St. maries lead to win on the home pitch by a 2-1 score.

St. Maries scored at the 28th minute but sophomore Sydney Hubbard tied the game at the 29th minute with a “follow up” tally.

In the second half of play sophomore Liz Racer by an assist from junior Natasha Litterell, placed the go ahead goal at the 46th minute.

Badger keeper junior Hailey Pruitt had 5 saves to St. Maries Keeper’s 8 saves.

Shots-on-goal were 6 for St. Maries and 10 for the Badgers.

“Outstanding effort by junior Rachel Wilson, Hubbard, senior Anika Blackmore, and Litterell.  These girls are fine examples of team play,”  said coach John Lindberg.

The Lady Badgers play at 4 p.m. today in Newport.
