EAST WENATCHEE - One of the better teams in Class 3A, the Eastmont Wildcats made a point of proving their worth to the Moses Lake Chiefs on Tuesday afternoon.

Playing host to Moses Lake, the Wildcats baseball team kept the Chiefs bats off balance and would cruise to an 8-1 win in non-league play.

"Right now we are to scuffling to find out who we are as a team," Moses Lake's interim head coach Quintz Whitaker said. "It definitely was not one our best performances but I know these boys are tough and can compete."

Moses Lake (3-4) were in a close game after five innings, staying within striking range as they trailed Eastmont 3-0.

But a five-run eruption in the bottom of the sixth allowed Eastmont the room it needed to pull away.

Deven Juarez and Bryton Redal each had two hits apiece to lead the Moses Lake offense.

Cameron Alvarado, Nick Lazlo, and Mitch Yada all threw two innings apiece off the mound.

"We just need to pick ourselves up and get after it to get ready for league play again on Friday," Whitaker said. "We will focus on the fundamentals and getting better daily in practice to build going forward."

West Valley (Spokane) 6

EPHRATA - In non-league play Tuesday, the Ephrata Tigers' bats could not get on track and the team would fall 6-2 to visiting West Valley out of Spokane.

The visitors pecked away with runs in the top half of the second, third, and sixth innings. They then scored three more runs in the top of the seventh and would lead 6-0.

Ephrata (1-7) scored their only runs in the bottom half of the final frame.

Josh Snider had two of the Tigers' four total hits to lead the offense.

OTHELLO 6

OTHELLO - In non-league action, the Othello Huskies took care of business in a 6-1 win over 1A Kiona-Benton on Tuesday.

David Garza and Darren Laughlin led the Huskies' offense with two hit apiece.

Othello (4-3) scored three runs in the first and two more in the second to take a 5-0 lead and they would cruise from there. The Huskies recorded 10 hits on the night and capitalized on four Ki-Be errors.

Eddie Garza pitched for the win as Othello held Ki-Be to two hits on the afternoon.
