Glacier, Flathead, Eureka open softball season

GREAT FALLS - Glacier managed to pick up one victory in four outings while Flathead posted a tie in four outings on Friday as both teams opened the AA season at the 2011 Softball Jamboree at the Great Falls Multi-Sports Complex.
Glacier beat Laurel 9-3, but lost to Billings Skyview 7-0. Great Falls 13-1 and C.M. Russell 10-0.
Flathead tied Bozeman 1-1, but fell to Butte 2-0, Billings West 20-0 and Billings Senior 7-1.
All games were five innings or one hour time limit, whichever came first, and do not count in season standings.
The jamboree was originally scheduled for today, but switched to Friday because of expected bad weather.
All 14 Class AA teams were in attendance, along Havre and Laurel.
Glacier opens Western AA play on Tuesday at home versus Missoula Hellgate, 4 p.m.
Flathead's next action is April 9 in Great Falls versus Great Falls High and C.M. Russell.

ST. IGNATIUS - Janeal McDonald was 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs as the Mission Bulldog softball team defeated visiting Eureka in a Western B-C matchup.
Eureka had a terrific start, scoring four runs in the first inning, but the Bulldogs settled down after that, holding the Lions scoreless the rest of the way.
Eureka is back in action April 9 with a doubleheader in Missoula versus Loyola.
