Downtown to get FROSTED

With cupcakes being the newest rage in tiny temptations, Coeur d'Alene will finally be on the cupcake map with the opening of FROSTED Cupcakes, owners of the business said.

It will be Coeur d'Alene's first retail cupcake shop. FROSTED Cupcakes is located at 424 E. Sherman Ave., downtown on the corner of Fifth Street and Sherman in the Old City Hall.

FROSTED has more than 30 different cupcakes with rotating daily specials. There also will be 15 specialty tea blends.

The owners are Jennifer Tarr and Daria Brown.

They said the cupcakes are good for birthday parties, to business meetings, or a "just-for-you" moment.

FROSTED will have its "sneak peak" April 15, and grand opening on April 22 with contests and prizes throughout the day.

Information: (208) 292-4444, or visit www.YummyFrostedCupcakes.com. The business is on Facebook.

Circling Raven makes Golf Digest list

Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel announced this week that Golf Digest magazine course-rating panelists rate Circling Raven Golf Club among "America's 100 greatest public courses."

This is a biennial rating program and the second consecutive time Circling Raven has earned top 100 status from Golf Digest, out of more than 13,500 courses nationwide.

Circling Raven will open for the 2011 season on Friday, April 8.

"The course held up superbly over the winter and we're eagerly anticipating this season," said director of golf Tom Davidson.

Fister's to offer unique fitness

Jenny Fister has opened Jenny's Callanetics at 506 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls.

The Worley resident instructs clients in a fitness program she called unique. It features small, precise movements to tone inner muscles and stabilize the neck and spine.

"We work from the inside out," she said. "Because of that, it gets very fast results."

Callanetics is most helpful to people with multiple sclerosis, scoliosis or recovering from back and knee injuries.

It is for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Fister, who has scoliosis, is a certified Callanetics instructor with experience as a massage technician and has studied nutrition.

"When I discovered Callanetics eight years ago, I realized how much the exercises were similar to the physical therapy I had been through as a young girl," she said.

Fister offers classes and individual sessions.

One-hour classes are Tuesday through Thursday, 4 and 6:30 p.m.

Information: (208) 310-0100 and www.callanetics.com
