Twins 4, Blue Jays 3: Danny Valencia and Denard Span homered, and visiting Minnesota held on to avoid a three-game sweep by Toronto.
Orioles 5, Rays 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Zach Britton pitched six sharp innings and J.J. Hardy hit a two-run double, leading Baltimore over Tampa Bay.
Tigers 10, Yankees 7: Miguel Cabrera hit a pair of two-run homers and visiting Detroit held off New York.
Royals 12, Angels 9, 13 inn.: Matt Treanor hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 13th inning, sending host Kansas City past Los Angeles for its third straight victory in its last at-bat.

Pirates 5, Cubs 4: Pedro Alvarez drove in two runs in the ninth inning and visiting Pittsburgh rallied past Chicago to take two of three in the series.
