MOSES LAKE - A late Richland goal was enough to deny Moses Lake a chance at a second straight Big 9 win on Saturday.
Richland's Eric Thomas struck in the game's 77th minute and that would be enough to secure a 1-0 win over the Chiefs at Lions Field.
Moses Lake (2-4-1, 1-3) lost their third game this season where they were tied going into a match's late stages.
Goalkeeper Luis Villa made eight saves for Moses Lake, while Chiefs' head coach Bill Bertram noted the top play of A.J. Montes and Derrick Gonzales.
"We're still looking for our outside mids to contribute more defensively," Bertram said. "But we'll get there. It was a classic Moses Lake. Richland battle."
OTHELLO 3
Ephrata 1
OTHELLO - The Othello Huskies (4-3) bounced back from a tough 2-0 loss Friday in Ellensburg by beating the visiting Ephrata Tigers 3-1, less than 24 hours later.
Ephrata (0-6) led 1-0 in the match's 38th minute on a Ramon Sanchez goal that came off of a AJ Stortz direct kick.
Othello's offense couldn't get going until the 60th minute when Jesse Vilarreal took advantage of a Tiger defensive error and the match was tied.
Ten minutes later, Huskie Jorge Campos pounced on a loose ball in front of the Ephrata goal and punched it in for a 2-1 Othello lead.
Octavio Gonzalez clinched the win in the late minutes with a counter goal.
The match was a non-league contest.
Wahluke 2
ROYAL 1 (2 OT)
MATTAWA - If a loss can best exemplify how good a team may be, that might of been the case when the Royal Knights travelled to Mattawa on Saturday.
Taking on the defending Class 1A state champions, Wahluke, the upstart Knights came into the match unbeaten and looking to make it mark in the tough South Central Athletic Conference (SCAC).
Well the two teams battled it out so evenly they would need even more time to decide who would rule on this day and in the end Wahluke would pull out a 2-1 double overtime win.
Royal (5-1) remains in first of the SCAC.
Wahluke scored first with 15 minutes left but Royal would soon counter.
Alex Ramirez's low cross found Christian Guerrero who knocked the ball into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1.
Wahluke would score the golden goal in the second overtime off of a corner kick.
WARDEN 6
Oroville 1
WARDEN - A first-half Hector Camacho hat trick was more than enough for the Warden Cougars to roll to a 6-1 home win over Oroville on Saturday.
Warden (3-2, 2-0) led in the match's first two minutes as Jason Estrada found a loose ball in the Oroville penalty area and they would get their engines rolling from there.
Camacho scored in the 15th, 25th, and 40th minutes of the first half as Warden led 4-1 at halftime.
Fernando Landeros and Elias Valencia each scored in the second half for Warden to secure the rout for the Cougars.
