Some Grant County taxes online

EPHRATA - The 2011 real property tax information for Grant County is now available online.
People can log on to TaxSifter through the county's website, www.co.grant.wa.us. The link is listed as parcel information beneath the heading of assessor and treasurer links.
The program only contains information about the 2011 real property tax information, and doesn't include information on prior tax history, outstanding taxes, mobile home and personal property tax, according to Treasurer Darryl Pheasant.
"It's purely for showing what your 2011 tax amount is," he said.
The county is presently working with the company to post the additional information to the program, Pheasant stated.
"When all the missing pieces are completed, we hope to add some online payment options for those who wish to pay over the Internet," he stated. "We believe this will be a useful tool to the public, title companies and tax services that want this information."
A large amount of the property tax statements are in the process of being mailed as well, Pheasant said. Problems with new software delayed the process.
"Hopefully a large amount will go out by Friday and Monday," he said. "Then we have all the problem statements that we're still working on."
