Stangel blanks Cd'A again

COEUR d'ALENE - Sophomore Casey Stangel struck out 13 as the Lake City Timberwolves won their fifth straight game - all by shutout - with a 5-0 win over the Coeur d'Alene Vikings on Tuesday in a 5A Inland Empire League game at Lake City High.
Katie Rowe went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and a solo home run in the fifth inning for Lake City (5-0, 2-0 5A IEL), which travels to Post Falls on Thursday.
"I thought we competed well in the batter's box today," Lake City coach Laura Tolzmann said.
Mariah Linahan went 2 for 2 with an RBI double for Lake City.
Nikki Ragsdale had four strikeouts for Coeur d'Alene (5-2, 0-2), which hosts Lakeland today at Larry Schwenke Field.

RATHDRUM — Cody Vandever struck out 10 through five innings as the Hawks defeated the Trojans in a nonleague game moved to Lakeland from Post Falls.
“We just came out swinging the bats,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “This year’s team has been motivated with the bats. Our goal today was to be aggressive.”
Eric Cooper went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for Lakeland (2-2), which travels to Coeur d’Alene today.
Darnell Metcalf went 2 for 4 with two RBIs for Post Falls (1-1), which travels to Lake City on Thursday.

BONNERS FERRY — Kellogg sophomore Kaceelyn Pouttu tied the women’s 9-hole record at Mirror Lake Golf Course, shooting a 1-under 35 to earn medalist honors in a match with Bonners Ferry and Lakeland.
Kellogg, the only girls team to field a full squad, shot 220. Chelsey Bayley shot 46 to lead Lakeland, which had three girls — one short of a full team.
Teado Hulstrom and Dillon Stovern each shot 5-over 41s to share medalist honors for the Kellogg boys, who shot 175 to beat Bonners Ferry by 47 strokes.
