A masked man robbed a clerk at gunpoint Tuesday night at the Alpine Country Store north of Hayden, taking an undisclosed amount of money.
The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department is continuing to investigate the armed robbery.
So far investigators say a lone gunman entered the convenience store about 11 p.m., then ordered the female clerk to empty the cash register.
The suspect then fled on foot. A sheriff's department K-9 followed the suspect's tracks to where he might have climbed into a vehicle a short distance away.
The store is located just north of the intersection of U.S. 95 and Highway 53.
