Cardinals split with Snow again

COEUR d'ALENE - Blake Meredith and Ashley Moon each homered in an eight-run third inning of the first game as the North Idaho College Cardinals defeated Snow College 14-0 before the visiting Badgers rallied in the second game for a 9-4 win to split the Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader Saturday at Memorial Field.

Meredith hit a two-run home run and was followed three batters later by Moon's shot with one out in the inning. Kristina DeAnda went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and Shelby Gonzales had three RBIs in the first game for NIC (25-21, 18-17 SWAC), which hosts Western Nevada next Friday and Saturday.

In the second game, Alle Carter hit a grand slam with two outs in the sixth inning and finished with five RBIs.

NIC left seven runners on base and committed four errors in the second game.

Snow (14-16, 14-16) remains three games behind fourth-place NIC in the conference.
