POST FALLS - Kootenai County Fire and Rescue has an improved insurance rating.

The agency, which covers the Post Falls, Dalton Gardens, Fernan Village, Stateline, Wolf Lodge and Huetter areas received the notification from the Idaho Surveying and Rating Bureau.

Most residential and commercial properties within the city limits of Post Falls and Dalton Gardens and/or within 1,000 feet of a fire hydrant will be classified as a rating of 3 rather than the previous rating of 4.

Residents living in the outer areas of the district will continue to be rated as either an 8 or a 9 depending on whether they are within 5 road miles of a fire station. Residents located 10 or more road miles from a fire station are rated as a 10.

The ratings, which take effect June 1, may result in a reduction of property insurance premiums, Chief Ron Sampert said.
