COEUR d’ALENE — Estimates are in.

Without the cost of replacing displaced facilities or the bottom level of the parking structure, the McEuen Field redevelopment project could cost between $23 million and $27.9 million, the park’s conceptual designers announced today.

By including the costs of replacing the American Legion baseball field to Coeur d’Alene High School and constructing the replacement boat launch at Silver Beach, the total goes to between $26 and $30 million.

Throwing everything in, the McEuen Field redevelopment project could cost between $31 million and $37 million at the high end.

That figure includes those replacement costs and the lowest level — or Centennial Trail level — of the multi-level parking garage.

“I’m very pleased with the numbers,” Mayor Sandi Bloem said following the workshop at Parkside Towers where Team McEuen, the project’s conceptual designers, announced possible costs. “It doesn’t mean I think we can just go out and spend $25, $30 million dollars right now. But I think if we’re talking about a long term vision, and the partners we can put together during the first phase and so forth, there really is an opportunity here.”

The city said following the workshop it would study the numbers and schedule public meetings on the costs and the vision for the park in the future.

Supporters of the park will gather at McEuen at 5 p.m. today.
