WAPATO - The Othello Huskies boys tennis team moved to a 3-0 mark in Central Washington Athletic Conference play as they won at Wapato yesterday, 3-2.

The girls' team however, dropped their first match of the campaign with a 3-2 loss to the host Wolves.

On the boys' side, singles players Alec Montemayor (No. 1) and Benn Taff (No. 2) cruised to two-set wins to get Othello rolling. Montemayor won 6-4, 6-3, while Taff rolled 6-1, 6-4.

The clinching victory cam via the No. 1 doubles performance of Marcus Garza and Wesley Cogswell as they held on in a tough 6-3, 7-5 decision.

For the Lady Huskies, two losses at singles dug them a hole and despite wins at No. 1 and No, 2 doubles, a tough 6-3, 7-5 loss at No. 3 doubles turned the match in favor of Wapato.

Emma Hymus and Jocelyn Cantu won 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles, while Amelia Roylance and Yanitta Cantu rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles.
