LEWISTON - Junior Katie Rowe hit a two-run double to give the Lake City Timberwolves the lead for good in the first game of a 5-2, 5-0 doubleheader sweep of the Lewiston Bengals in 5A Inland Empire League softball play on Saturday at Airport Park.

Dakota Wilson opened the scoring with a two-run triple in the fourth inning for Lake City, which had 10 strikeouts from Casey Stangel.

In the second game, Mariah Linahan had a two-run single in a four-run fourth inning. Stangel held the Bengals to four hits.

"The first game was a great defensive battle on both sides," Lake City coach Laura Tolzmann said. "We just happened to get some key hits and continued to score. It was nice to see a battle all the way to the seventh inning."

Stangel had 10 strikeouts in the second game for Lake City (10-0, 6-0 5A IEL), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday.

"Casey threw well for us again," Tolzmann said. "Both Jamie (Yurick) and Dakota had a good day at the plate."
